China Manufacturing’s Electrical Product Hubs

Did you know that China is a top exporter of electrical product machinery and equipment? World’s Top Exports reports more than 26 percent of China’s exports come from this category.  Apple, Samsung, and Dell are among the companies having their phones, integrated electronic circuits, and computer parts and accessories manufactured in China.

World’s Top Exports puts machinery, including computers, into a second category which accounts for almost 17 percent of China’s exports. Added together, these two categories are 43 percent of China’s total exports.

Where are China’s Main Provinces for Electircal Product Manufacturing?

Global companies often turn to China for digital and electrical product manufacturing in Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Guangdong.  These cities currently total approximately one-third of China’s industrial output. Coincidentally, these same providences also account for the majority of China’s merchandise exports.

Shanghai and Zhejiang are located in and south of the Yangtze River Delta. Many foreign companies base their manufacturing operations in Suzhou, also part of this region. Furthermore, Nanking, a little farther inland on the Yangtze River, is an electronics hub. The Hangzhou Hi-Tech Industrial Development zone is often referred to as China’s Silicon Valley.

Shenzhen, located in the South, is another major manufacturing hub located in China. In fact, this region is the country’s largest manufacturing base for consumer electronics. This includes popular devices such as tablets and smartphones. Many of the major tech companies in China, including Tencent and ZTE, are based in this area.

Also dubbed China’s Silicon Valley, Zhongguancun in Beijing is home to many non-Chinese tech companies. Google and Microsoft have their Chinese headquarters there, along with their research centers. Shenyang, also located in the Bohai Economic Rim, is home to many software developers.

What are the Current Trends in Electronics Manufacturing?

Consolidation of the manufacture of electronic components, as well as finished devices, and the superior logistics behind getting those items in the hands of customers and consumers are the current trends driving the electronics manufacturing world in China.  Strategic partnerships help companies:

  1. Offer a wider range of services.
  2. Offer their customers as many choices as possible from a single source.

Customers are finding this to be of benefit when they purchase electronic devices and components.

Attention spans are getting shorter and shorter and are coupled with an “I want it now” mentality.  The Internet offers a huge selection of electronic products at the click of a button with the option of “expedited shipping”.  These trends have spilled over into the corporate customer as well.  The “I want it now” mentality has made efficient logistics more and more a factor for consumers and businesses alike.  Rapid delivery has never been more important.
